Eastern Dental Group has served Melbourne’s eastern suburbs for nearly four decades. Founded by Dr Richard Gysberts in Wantirna in 1987 and joined by Dr Brendan Moroney in 2005, the practice has grown into a modern clinic offering everything from check-ups and cleans and children’s dentistry to dental implants, orthodontics, and periodontal treatment.
Richard and Brendan built the practice on one idea: treat patients the way they’d want their own families treated. That hasn’t changed.
Our Approach
Good dentistry starts with listening. Every patient’s needs and concerns are different, and we take the time to understand yours before recommending anything.
Our philosophy rests on three pillars: prevention first, early intervention when needed, and definitive treatment for long-term oral health. We’d rather catch a small issue at a routine check-up than treat a bigger one later, and rather help you understand your gum health now than deal with the effects of gum disease down the track.
When treatment is needed, we explain your options honestly and let you decide. We’re not part of any health fund’s preferred provider scheme, so our recommendations are never influenced by commercial arrangements, only by what’s genuinely right for you.

General and Preventative Dentistry
Check-up and clean appointments, children’s dentistry, preventative care, and periodontal treatment for gum disease. We see patients from their first tooth through every stage of life.
Restorative Dentistry
Dental implants, crowns and bridges, root canal treatment, and minor oral surgery including tooth extractions and wisdom tooth removal.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Dental veneers, teeth whitening, Invisalign, orthodontics and braces, and dentures.
Emergency Dental
Urgent and after-hours dental care for patients in pain. We strive to see emergency patients within 24 hours of calling.

In 2011, Eastern Dental Group relocated to a purpose-built dental clinic at 169 Stud Road, Wantirna South — designed from the ground up to provide a comfortable, modern, and fully equipped environment for patients and clinicians alike.
The clinic features:
Modern consulting rooms and equipment. We use the latest dental technology and proven materials, and adhere to current protocols for infection control and sterilisation. Digital X-rays reduce radiation exposure compared to traditional film X-rays and allow immediate, high-resolution imaging that supports more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Ceiling-mounted flat-screen TVs in each surgery. Because a distraction helps.
A relaxing patient lounge. With a wide selection of current reading material for patients and accompanying family members.
Ground-level access. Wide doorways and ground-level entry accommodate wheelchairs and prams without difficulty.
Secure parking at the rear. Accessible via Moonah Road, with no need to navigate busy street parking on Stud Road.
Health Funds and Payment
Eastern Dental Group welcomes patients covered by any private health fund and processes claims on the spot via HICAPS, you pay only the gap on the day. We do not participate in preferred provider schemes with any fund, which means patients are never steered toward particular treatments based on commercial arrangements.
